Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency Hosts Open House at Muscatine Service Center
On September 13, 2006, the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency will host an Open House at their recently renovated Muscatine Service Center. The Open House will begin at 4:00 p.m. and ends at 5:15 p.m. The Muscatine Service Center is located at 1422 Houser Street, Muscatine. Media, school personnel and community members are invited to attend. A Board meeting will follow the Open House at 5:30 p.m.
The Muscatine facility needed additional space for the Early Childhood Diagnostic and Education Center, more office space, and a place to provide space for regional staff development.
The addition was made possible due to the gracious sale of property by the Muscatine County Supervisors for $1. Denise Zimmer, Head of Environmental and Facility Services at the Mississippi Bend AEA said, “Since the renovation, the Muscatine Service Center has more than doubled its square footage to accommodate Muscatine Conference Room 1 and 2 which are equipped with state of the art technology.” The Learning Center will be used for staff development, inservices, and available for use by the school districts served by the Muscatine Service Center.
Muscatine Service Center staff serve seven of the twenty-two school districts in Area Nine. School districts receiving services from the Muscatine service center include: Muscatine, Bennett, Columbus, Louisa-Muscatine, Durant, West Liberty, and Wilton.
