Paraeducator Generalist and Level II Courses now open for registration!
Paraeducator certification gives in-depth training covering areas of behavior management, exceptional child and at-risk child behavior, collaboration skills, interpersonal relation skills, child and youth development, technology, and ethical responsibilities and behavior.
Upon completion of the three-course series, registrants will earn the Iowa Paraeducator Certificate. The three courses do not need to be taken in order.
All courses will be held at the Bettendorf AEA office, 8 am to 4:30 pm. There is 15 hours of additional work to be completed through online learning.
The cost for each course is $215. There is a one-time materials fee of $25 required for the first course.

Paraeducator I: Communication, Ethics, and Confidentiality : March 9 & April 6 (Saturdays)
Paraeducator II: Behavior Improvement : June 4 & June 6 (Tuesday & Thursday)
Paraeducator III: Roles and Responsibilities : dates to be determined
Those who have earned the Paraeducator Certificate can take additional training to earn Level II area of concentration endorsements. The Mississippi Bend AEA is approved to teach Early Childhood, School Library Media, and Special Needs. The 3 credits earned in each of these courses can used to add the endorsement as well as for paraeducator certificate renewal.
Two repeat sessions are being offered. Cost is $310, payable upon registration.
