Speech Language Pathology (SLP) Chair for State Lead

Part-time position available June 1, 2020. The Speech Language Pathology (SLP) Chair for State Lead will serve at a statewide level to provide collaboration, leadership, and guidance for the state of Iowa. The position may be located anywhere in the state and will collaborate with the Iowa Department of Education (DE) and AEA Special Education Directors to provide SLP leadership and guidance, convene and facilitate the SLP leadership group and develop a 3 to 5 year plan for the statewide system of support services. The position will prioritize topics for SLP professional learning as directed by the Iowa DE and the AEA Directors of Special Education. The position will also be responsible for maintaining an electronic repository of tools, materials and resources on a predetermined site.
Candidates must have the ability to link support services to student achievement and the implementation of IDEA and specially designed instruction and supports. Candidates must also be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field of practice. Candidates must be appropriately licensed/certified in the field of speech-language pathology. Must have a master’s degree or Ph. D. in communication disorders as well as five years of successful experience in education.
