Selecting a career, getting the training, obtaining employment, and maintaining a job are all critical skills. The following agencies provide assistance to persons at various phases of preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining employment.

There are numerous sites where classes are held such as Maquoketa Community Center, Central High School, Bellevue High School and Calamus-Wheatland High School. Skill development in math, reading, and writing. GED classes and testing. Academic support for vocational-technical and academic programs of study. Skills Shop available for all credit students. EICC has additional sites in Bettendorf, Davenport, and Muscatine offering a variety of "arts and sciences" and career technical programs of study.

Vocational evaluation , counseling, training and job placement for persons who are blind or visually impaired. Training in alternative techniques of blindness, e.g. cane travel, Braille etc. Assistive devices/modification related to training and employment. Library of material in alternative formats such as tapes, Braille and large print.

The mission of the Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) is to work for and with individuals who have disabilities to achieve their employment, independence and economic goals. IVRS works with persons at least 16 years of age who have a disability that limits their ability to obtain or maintain employment. Eligibility for Vocational Rehabilitation Services must be determined on an individual basis. IVRS offers vocational guidance and counseling, assessment and evaluation (including community based assessment) , training and education, job placement assistance and many other services. Each high school has a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor assigned.
