Coats for Kids

The Coats for Kids Program began in 1999 to provide winter coats to children in Davenport and Pleasant Valley Schools. The Program was named in honor of Dr. David E. Lane, Associate Superintendent for Davenport Community School District, who helped initiate the Program. Dr. Lane, whose passion was helping children, died in 1999 shortly after the Program began. Warm winter coats support the physical, social, and emotional needs of children. Coats not only provide warmth, they keep children healthy, in school, and allow them to play outside with other kids.

The Dr. David E. Lane Coats for Kids Program is a 501c3 organization.

Here's how it works

Slightly used coats are donated by individuals and through various school and business coat drives. Sanitary and Wagner's Cleaners, a program partner, clean the coats and delivers them to the distribution center located at Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency's Bettendorf Office. Monetary donations can also be made online or by U.S. Mail. These donations are used to clean the donated used coats and purchase coats that are still needed after coat donations from the community. All donations are tax-deductible.
